Home remedies
There are a number of effective natural remedies that can help treat a cough. Some have calming properties, others help get rid of mucus, and some have antitussive, antispasmodic or antiseptic properties.
1. Hydration
Getting enough hydration is very important. One of the immediate effects of a dry cough is throat irritation. A simple remedy to soothe it is moistening the throat. Whether it’s water, juice or a hot drink, increasing fluid intake will help you feel better.
Drinking small amounts of water on a regular basis will help reduce inflammation, relieve dryness and irritation, and liquefy secretions, making it easier to expel them later.
Hot beverages are recommended in case of a wet cough, while cold liquids are preferred to soothe a dry cough.
