7. Thyme
Thyme, alone or together with other herbs, is one of the most commonly recommended remedies for the treatment of dry, spasmodic coughs and whooping coughs. It is because of its anti-inflammatory properties that soothe inflammation in the throat, and spasmolytic properties, which help to reduce coughing fits. But it also has antiseptic properties which can help to fight the virus or ENT infection causing the cough, as well as antioxidant properties; expectorant and decongestant. Thyme can be used in different forms: as an infusion, poultice, massage, capsule or as an essential oil.
As an infusion simply take ½ teaspoon of thyme and infuse it in a cup of water for 10-15 minutes. To cut the bitterness, add a teaspoon of honey. Drink 3 cups during the day.
