8. Thyme
Thyme is a herb from the mint family that you probably recognize from your spice set, but it’s so much more than an afterthought ingredient. But its range of use is impressive, and has been throughout centuries: Ancient Greeks used it as incense, and Ancient Egyptians never embalmed without it.
