7. Diet – The Connection between Food and RA

Diet can play a role in the development and progression of rheumatoid arthritis. Certain foods, such as red meat, processed foods, and sugary beverages, have been linked to increased inflammation in the body. This increased inflammation may contribute to the onset of RA or worsen existing symptoms.
On the other hand, some foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats, have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. These foods can help reduce inflammation in the body and may help prevent or manage RA symptoms.
Adopting a healthy diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods, such as the Mediterranean diet, may be beneficial for individuals at risk of developing RA or those already diagnosed with the condition. (7)
